The Great Gatsby at Wilton's Music Hall

Wilton's Music Hall, Grace Alley

On Saturday we had a family outing to the theatre.
My niece Amy Gunn is the stage manager for the production The Great Gatsby, it was Amy that told us about Wilton's Music Hall. From Amy's enthusiasm and description of the theatre we wanted to see this hidden gem. Wilton's is tucked away down an alley in the East End, not far from the Tower of London, its the oldest and last surviving grand music hall in the world.

London Olympics Opening Ceremony 2012 'Pandaemonium'

This is a guest post by my friend Ann, an account of her experience as a Games Maker at the London Olympics 2012

Two years ago in the summer of 2010, I filled out an online application form to become a Games Maker at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Living in London for many years, and loving all kinds of sports, albeit from the comfort of my sofa, it was too good an opportunity to miss.

I soon learnt that nothing in this process happened quickly!

Primark 'London Skyline' cushion

This is a post about stuff I like and think worthy of a mention because of the design and value for money. In the Harlequin Centre Watford I found the shop Tiger, I have seen it aptly described as a cross between Mujie and Ikea. I bought the bicycle paper clips (£1) and four peg Babushkas (£1) amongst other things! It would be a good place to find appealing and reasonable priced stuff for children's parties.

Bernina Sewing Machine Free Tuition Day

Bernina's sewing machine tutor with Barbara

In October, at the Knitting and Stitching show in London, I bought a Bernina sewing machine. My previous sewing machine had served me well for 22 years, it has been a work horse of a machine like an old friend. Now I wanted to treat myself and get a computerised machine. I have been looking for along time as these machines are an investment (investment read costly!). At one point I was disillusioned and disappointed as none of the machines were compatible with my MacBook.

London's First Ever Cushion Swap 18 September

I have been contacted by Rebecca about an event she is hosting on 18 September, London's first ever cushion swap, in aid of Breast Cancer Care. The event, at the Alwyne Castle pub in Islington, will start at 12 and finish at 2. Entry is £5, which entitles you to take away as many cushions as you bring, as long as they are in goodcondition. The idea is to get an interior design fix for a fraction of the price of a trip to Habitat.
